Γεννήθηκε στην Καρδίτσα το 1883 και μεγάλωσες μεσα σε μια Οικογενειαν με πλούσια ιστορική παράδοση αφού οι προγονοί του πολέμησαν με τον Καραϊσκάκη
Η προσφορά του στην πατρίδα υπήρξε ανεκτίμητη και εχει ιστορικά καταδειχθεί η ανιδιοτελής προσφορά του στρατιωτικού ,του πολιτικού ,του ανθρώπου Πλαστήρα
Ως στρατιωτικός ήταν οξυδερκής και γενναίος και διακρίθηκε σε όλα τα πεδία των μαχών και του δόθηκε το προσωνύμιο «Μαύρος Καβαλάρης »
“Ο Πλαστήρας είναι άξιος κάθε τιμής και εγώ ως εχθρός έχω καθήκον να ομολογήσω πρώτος, την μεγάλη αξία του αντιπάλου μου”.

Συμμετιχε σε όλους τους πολέμους που ειχε εμπλακεί η πατρίδα μας και διακρίθηκε για την ανδρεία του και την στρατιωτική του οξυδέρκεια Στην ιστορική μάχη του Σκρα (1918) προήχθει σε Αντισυνταγματάρχης επ’ανδραγαθία.
Συμμετείχε στην Μικρασιατική εκστρατεία, δίνοντας νικηφόρες μαχες, Γίνεται ο φόβος και ο τρομος των αντιπάλων του Οι Τούρκοι ονομάζουν το ηρωικό Σύνταγμα των ευζώνων που ηγείτο «Το ασκέρι του Διαβόλου»
Στην κατάρρευση του μετώπου της Μικράς Ασίας και κατά την υποχώρηση ο Πλαστήρας σώζει την τιμή του ελληνικού στρατού σαν «ο από μηχανής θεός» σώζοντας με την στρατιωτική τακτική που εφάρμοσε, από βέβαιο θάνατο η αιχμαλωσία εκατοντάδες Έλληνες στρατιώτες, αλλα και εκατοντάδες πρόσφυγες από την σφαγή των Τούρκων ώστε να αποκληθεί « αγιος της προσφυγιάς » Ο Πλαστήρας εδωσε λύση στο προσφυγικό πρόβλημα και μερίμνησε για την αποκατάσταση των προσφύγων
“ Ένα μεσημέρι του Σεπτέμβρη 1922 έμπαινε ο Αρχηγός στην Αθήνα, επικεφαλής επαναστατημένων στρατιωτικών τμημάτων.
Μαύρος, σκονισμένος, σκοτεινός, παλιοντυμένος, αδύνατος, άγριος, με σφιγμένα τα δόντια και μάτια, που μέσα τους έβλεπες την απελπισία. Σε κείνους που έκαναν να τον ζητοκραυγάσουν, φώναξε θυμωμένος:
– Τι ζητωκραυγάζετε; Επιστρέφουμε νικημένοι, κατεστραμμένοι.

Τον είδα που πέρασε τη λεωφόρο Κηφισίας, μπαρουτοκαπνισμένο, τα μαύρα του φρύδια, άσπρα από τη σκόνη, το πρόσωπό του αδύνατο σα ρέγκα, καπνισμένο, αγέλαστο, αυστηρό”.
Στην πολιτική εισέρχεται δυναμικά το 1922 ανατρέποντας την Κυβερνήση και υποχρεώνοντας τον Βασιλέα Κωνσταντινος να παραιτηθεί υπερ. του Γεωργίου του Α!

Το 1923 υπογράφεται με την Τουρκία η Συνθήκη της Λωζάνης η οποία καθόρισε τα σύνορα της χώρας μας
Το 1935 ηγήθηκε αποτυχημένου κινήματος και καταδικάζεται ερήμην σε θάνατο. Τον Ιανουάριο του 1924 παρουσιάζεται στον Υπουργό των Στρατιωτικών Μανέτα και υποβάλλει την παραίτηση του από τον Ελληνικό Στρατό ολοκληρώνοντας την στρατιωτική του θητεία
Η Δ! Εθνοσυνέλευση αναγνωρίζονται την προσφορά του στην πατρίδα τον ανακηρύσσει « Αξιος της Πατριδος» ολοκληρώνοντας έτσι μια λαμπρή στρατιωτική σταδιοδρομία

Το 1935 αναλαμβάνει Πρωθυπουργός βραχύβιας Κυβέρνησης ως προσωπικό της ευρείας αποδοχής
Μετα την ληξη του Εμφυλίου εκλέγεται Αρχηγός του κόμματος της Ε.Π.Ε.Κ .και με σύνθημα την λέξη Αλλαγή
συμμετείχε στις εκλογες εκλέγεται και σχηματίζει δύο Κυβερνήσεις συνασπισμου κεντρώων κομμάτων «1950-1952 »
Στις 16 Νοεμβρίου 1952 χαίνει τις εκλογές και στις 26 /7 /1953 άφησε την τελευταία του πνοή
Εκτός όμως από ικανότατος στρατιωτικός με πολιτική δράση, ο Πλαστήρας υπήρξε ένας υπερήφανος άνθρωπος υπόδειγμα τιμιότητας, αρετής, ανιδιοτελούς προσφοράς και απλόχερης ανθρωπιάς. Τα στοιχεία αυτά τον έκαμαν να αγαπηθεί από το λαό, από τον οποίο ουδέποτε αποστασιοποιήθηκε. Πολλές φορές ο μισθός του αθόρυβα και διακριτικά έφθασε σε ανθρώπους της ανάγκης και της φτώχειας. Ποτέ του δεν απέκτησε περιουσιακά στοιχεία και έμεινε στην ιστορία ως το χαρακτηριστικότερο παράδειγμα πολιτικού και στρατιωτικού που “πέθανε στην ψάθα”.
